This invention first began with a dictionary…

The information on the dictionary page is organized in the form of a table, each cell containing a word and a phrase that exemplifies the use of the word, both in the foreign language and in the mother tongue.

The dictionary could be printed on Swell Touch Paper, with the word written in the foreign language and the mother tongue. In the picture, there is also a dictionary printed on normal paper

For each word, there are four audio recordings:

  1. The word in the foreign language;
  2. The same word in the mother tongue;
  3. A phrase that exemplifies the use of that word in the foreign language;
  4. The same phrase, translated in the mother tongue.

The user presses the into the word cell, and depending of the selected audio recordings, he / she hears the one, two or four audio recordings corresponding to that cell.

For example, if “A” + “B” files (the word in the mother tongue and in the foreign language) are selected, and the user presses the “bear” cell of the English – German dictionary, he / she hears:

“Basket” + “Korb”

If the “A” + “B” + “C” + “D” files are selected, and the user presses in the “Bear” cell, the M6 Touch device plays all the four audio records in sequence (the word in English and German, followed by the phrase in English and German):

“Bear” + “Bär” + “Here’s a big brown bear” + “Hier ist ein großer Braunbär”

Games

“Show me” game.

If the “A” audio record is selected, after the game starts, the M6 Touch device plays randomly an “A” audio record (with the word in the foreign language – English) and asks the user to press on the corresponding cell in the page. If successfully turns to the next word. If is wrong, asks the user to try again. The user can replay the word, translate, or skip it. The game continues for all the words in the page.

The game could also be played also with the other “B”, “C”, “D” audio recordings.

“Memory” game

The game could be played with “A” or “B” audio recordings (the word in foreign or mother tongue language).

The device plays three words in sequence, asking the user to touch the corresponding cells in the page (no matter the order). If correct, the game passes with the next set of three words. The game continues until each word was played three times.
